Equipment, a backup connection and monitoring staff, working together from the day the system is live at the new place.

Each camera uploads its footage to the cloud on its own, where it stays for up to approximately 7 days for you to replay on a phone or computer.
A power cut or an internet outage does not stop the monitoring, because the system falls back to a cellular connection; useful in a house whose quirks you are still learning.
Alerts, a live camera view, the door locks and the alarm itself are all in the Xfinity app, so you can check on the new house from the old one on the last day of packing.
If you are renting, or another move is possible, note that eligible plans can begin with no long-term contract. We confirm the no-contract options at the new address.
Add Xfinity TV and the Voice Remote can put the alarm status and the camera views on the television screen, no extra app required.
Fitting out the new place
A different house means different doors, windows and blind spots. Mix devices to suit it, from a front-door camera to sensors throughout.
Cameras and video doorbells
HD cameras for inside and out, including video doorbells, can record continuously or only on motion, with the footage stored securely in the cloud; handy for learning who comes to the new front door.
Smart locks and sensors
A sensor on each door and window warns you if one opens when it should not. With a compatible smart lock you control who can get in from your phone, which is reassuring when you cannot be sure who still holds a key from the previous owners.
Professional monitoring
Professional 24/7 monitoring adds a person who looks at every alert before anyone calls emergency services, which helps keep false alarms down while everyone learns the new system.
Security questions
Say a door opens, motion is picked up or smoke is detected: the alarm goes to a monitoring center with staff on hand around the clock. They review it and try to reach you, and if nobody can confirm everyone is safe, they send local emergency services on your behalf. Procedures vary; we confirm the current ones when you order.
The usual starting point is a hub with a keypad, plus sensors on the doors and windows. Cameras, motion detectors and smart locks get added to fit the layout. How the new house is built and wired decides what will work, so describe it to us and we go through the recommended setup.
Some eligible monitoring plans come without a long-term commitment. How long the plan runs, the contract terms and any early-termination charge vary with the package and the location, so if another move is possible, tell us and we go through the options with that in mind before anything is activated.
On standard plans, cloud video is generally held for approximately 7 days; upgraded plans hold it for longer. Nobody but you can watch it, through your account sign-in, unless you decide to share access, so set that up fresh for the new household. How long it is kept and who can reach it follow Xfinity’s current service agreement, which we confirm when you order.
